The Difference of Summer and Winter

Everyone surely cannot forget the humid air of the summer, beautiful flowers of the spring, falling leaves of autumn, and as well the snow of the winter. Every season has its own unique weather that differentiates one to the other. Apparently, summer and winter are the two that contradict each other. For summer, the first thought that comes to mind is sunshine; and for winter, it is snow. In addition, the weather, activities, and clothes are the distinctive features that contrast the two seasons. Weather is the major difference between summer and winter.

In the summertime, it is always warm, sunny and fun to be outside; however, it could get extremely hot and humid. Moreover, the sun is shining up until 9 o’clock at night during the summertime, which keeps people energetic throughout the day. Nevertheless, people may experience dehydration and heat stroke because of the high temperature. For people who have to work outside like construction workers, food venders and mailmen, the hot weather has a great impact on them. Therefore, the desire for winter becomes more contemporary.

On the other hand, in winter, weather is cold, and days are shorter as darkness creeps in quickly. Especially during the snowstorm, sometimes it cloud lead to a blizzard. Therefore, home is the best place to stay. Some people choose summer as opposed to winter because snow could lead to sloppy roads, which creates a lot of traffics and accidents; most people would rather stay inside than go outside unless necessary during the wintertime. Furthermore, the freezing temperature weather can greatly affect someone’s mood and emotional state.

As a result, people could get sick and become depressed. It is time of the year when people report feeling depressed because of the dark, cold winter weather. People notice another crucial difference in comparing summer and winter. The most notable difference is the activities that each season has to offer. Many people wait all year for summer to come, just to do these activities. For instance, on a hot summer day, people usually go to the beach to enjoy the sun, swim, build sand castles, and have a delightful lunch by water or just to be with their friends and families.

Camping is another outdoor activity which people do during the summer. It gives an opportunity to enjoy nature up-close. People participate in fishing, hunting and wildlife watching. Just as importantly, study shows that camping helps decrease the stress of people’s lives. In the warm weather, many people like to take out their motorcycle and go out for a long ride around the city. Also, other people exercise by riding their bikes or go jogging. These activities are only available and can only be done in the summertime.

On the other hand, there are also activities adults and kids can do in the wintertime but they are very limited. The usual activities people would do during the winter is going snowboarding, go skiing, and go ice skating. These sports could be a marvelous work out because it utilizes most muscles in the body and keep people in excellent shape. As snow accumulates, people can build a snowman with their families. There are many reasons why people love summer and winter’s activities, but there are also chores that have people dreading these two seasons, which are mowing the lawn and shoveling the snow.

Unique clothing such as a wool jacket or a short sleeve shirt can determine another distinction between summer and winter. Different types of clothing protect people from the changing weather within the season. In the summertime, as people are shopping at the mall, they will notice the display in the window shows the mannequins are wearing tank tops, t-shirts, shorts, skirts, bathing suits, sandals, sun hats, and sunglasses. As the breezy summer clothes disappear, the heavy winter clothes creep their way back onto the mannequins.

However, in the wintertime, store associates will decorate these mannequins with sweaters, long-sleeves, jeans, jackets, boots and scarves. Summer and Winter have their own distinctive qualities and everybody enjoys it. Some people like summer because of the warm weather and the activities it offers. Others like winter because of the activities the cold weather offers, and the beauty of snow and how it looks on the landscape. Overall, it comes down to a personal choice to which season one likes better. It does not matter what people choose, as long as they have fun.
